This model, which is based on the way the brain works, enabled machines to recognize and store complex patterns. What seemed almost futuristic at the time is now central to many machine learning applications, from financial systems to medical image analysis.<\/p>\n\n<p>Hopfield&#8217;s work shows how small insights into complex systems can lead to groundbreaking results.
